What is Conjure/Rootwork/Juju?
This is a magick very similar to what most people know as Voodoo/Vodou or Witchcraft. I believe that many magickal traditions of the African Diaspora Traditions and European Practices are actually the same or closely related; just with a different methodology, terminology, and way of practicing. The main difference is that Conjure is mainly an Old Southern Folk Magick aka Hoodoo, which has just as much power and success when properly applied in authentic methodology; without a religious base to it, or a requirement of deity worship. There is no hierarchy of power, and no need to go through an initiation. Most have acquired their knowledge from the passing down of traditions from one generation to the next; or have connected with an authentic shaman or root doctor. Others that weren't so lucky, have had to spend years and years of studying from ancient text, esoteric occult literature, grimoires; and trial and error.
Rootwork is harnessing energy to manifest change with the use of herbs, oils, crystals, candles, other occult materials, and prayer. It is recommended that this power should be used for the good of all, and for positive transformation.
Types of Magick:
There are way too many to list here. So, I have included a few that is most used. In doing any magick, the force and power can be used for good (white magick), protection/justice (grey magick), or evil (black magick). Just as a hammer can be used to build a home, it can be used to harm someone. It is directed energy that is used with focused intention to achieve a specific goal. So, please use it wisely, responsibly, and in a positive manner for karma is REAL! Behave in the spiritual realm, just as you would in the physical realm.
Binding Magick: To bind is to keep someone from doing something. This is a very restrictive magick and is often very unethical if used for the wrong reason.
Candle Magick: Often used in spells and rituals and can be influenced by the shape (pillar/votive/taper/tea lights/figural/7 day glass vigil), color, scented spiritual oils, herbal dressings, and the number of candles required for each work.
Crystal/Stone Magick: There are a multitude of crystals, stones and metals that can be used for many purposes through either simply invoking the energies of the crystals or creating crystal elixirs. The properties of the stones should compliment the type of magick you're working.
Dream Magick: Usually incredibly useful for tapping into the astral realm and one's own psyche. Through dream magick, you can connect to the hidden secrets of your mind and to realms you can't access through the physical. It is also most useful when you are doing a commanding or influencing type of work, and work while the target is asleep to influence their mind and ways of thinking.
Elemental Magick: One of the less commonly used type of magick on it's own. This is usually used in combination with other methodologies. Usually in the beginning of a ritual, the elements are invoked and called into the circle for their blessings during a Wiccan ritual. However, elemental magick can be used by invoking the essential energy of the elements for their specific powers and corresponds to Fire (Candles/Wands), Water (Liquids/Cups), Air (Incense/Swords), Earth (Dirts/Crystals/Shells/Herbs/Pentacles).
Herbal Magick: The most versatile & useful magicks around. Usually herbal magic is employed through incense, tinctures, or a long list of other herbal products in order to invoke their essences. Be sure to match the properties of the herb to the type of magick you're performing.
Knot Magick: A very ancient practice that usually is based on the number of knots tied on a cord, usually with purposes for each knot. Many utilize this type of work in Hoodoo rituals.
Healing Magick: Can be accomplished through a variety of methods. It can be done through straight energy transfer (Reiki and other methods), poppet/effigy/doll baby magick, herbal magick, crystal magick, laying of hands, and Chakra Balancing.
Poppet Magick: Made popular in the practice of voodoo but has been used in many different magickal systems around the world. Usually poppets/doll babies or effigies are made of cloth and are activated with a personal concern of the target (Any DNA, hair, blood, nails, dirty piece of clothing (foot of sock, crotch of underwear, swatch of arm pit), photo, name paper) to attach the energy of a person to the poppet. They are then baptized in the name of the target afterward.
Protection Magick: It employs all other types of magick, and can be worked in various degrees of difficulty. Used to guard and protect yourself, friend/family member, client, animals, assets, business/career, & finances from any evil work.
Sex Magick: A wonderful creative force because it taps into the act that essentially recreates humanity from the beginning of time. However, sex magick is never to be taken lightly as it is a very powerful type of magick, and can create some serious physical, emotional and magickal consequences. This will create a vestigial tie to the person you are having sex with or performing sex magick on, so be careful. If you should want this same person out of your life or not be attached to your aura; you will need to break these ties.
